Pocketology, the study of pockets, is an exploration in discovering the potential significance of even the most seemingly forgettable moments, using commonplace items as a medium for storytelling.
Pocketology is a discipline practiced each time an object is removed from a personal space such as a pocket, a wallet, or a handbag and a story is revealed.
Pocketology functions as a social system founded on the non-monetary exchange of stories amongst Pocketologists. The Pocketology community invites those who have a story to share or those who have come simply to listen. At times this place is manifested in physical space yet its inherent value is based on the giving of gifts that are neither visible nor tactile.

Ready to participate? Please write in with your contributions no matter how large or small, how meaningful or void of significance you find the story. Include a brief description of the item, a photo if possible, and the story behind the item. You may also submit text messages stored in your cell phone. Feel free to send anonymous submissions or if you are comfortable with it please include your name and/or a little bit of background information about yourself.
The potential for this space is in our collective hands! This is your invitation to share in the building of this community…

I love this! I feel so cool to know you, Rach
You’re awesome Rach! I’m looking forward to seeing how this unravels and I’ll be happy to contribute!
Rachel, saw your mail yesterday. First day after month I got in my studio. I spare you about what’s all in my work-pants pockets, except this: a waxen globule. Cheers!
Cool! bookmarking this in the link section of by movie blog!
Hey Blake! What’s your movie blog address? I’ll link you back!
Hi Rachel,
Cool stuff . I have a new pocket on me knee scooter that is my means of getting around right now. So I will send you a picture of the contents after a busy day. In the meantime keep up the good work!
Love you!!!!
Hi Rachel,
What fun! You are always doing something new and innovative. Hmmm, I’ll have to look at my pocket emptying with new thought!
Enjoy your wonderful Journey
Pocketology is a great idea! You’ve made me aware of the “treasures” that I have in my many pockets (do pocketbooks count?)! I’ll save what’s important, like my car keys and items that spark memories, and pass interesting items on to others to spark new pocketologists.
Love you, misssss you!
I think Pocketology is a rocking way for people to share cultures, individualism and experiences. I really believe that this is the kind of art that allows people not only to express themselves but to get real on a level that they can reveal the experiences they would never be able to share in the same way in any other way. That’s why I think this is indeed a beautiful art that you have invented… much love to you from Rome!
Cool to meet you Rachel, I will contact you once I’ve put something together about the PGP. What a cool project, I’ll send anyone I can over to empty their pockets for your pleasure.
…and for all of our pleasure, I hope! Thanks David! It was fun to meet you and your crew! Looking forward to see what you come up with
Rachel,
Will you be in the shop today? I will drop by, with whatever’s in my pocket.
Cheers,
MB
Hi Rachel – Gary and I stopped at your window installation recently and shared our stories and took home a story wrapped in a gift box. The story in my box had us laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes. It was just so honest. We’ve both since shared it with friends and family. We think everyone should try it. Good luck with the project. Diane
Great meeting you the other day Rachel.
What a great idea!
I have been telling everyone about your project.
Can’t wait to see the next one!
Hi. I ran into you and the gallery the other day, and I was hoping to make contact about something. Will you please email me at: phluchy@thestar.ca
thanks, Patrricia
I had great fun trading in Georgia’s mittens and participating in your gallery gift shop! She doesn’t seem to miss them, but I do! But, now that I’ve added Pocketology to my favorites, I guess I can visit them anytime! Add me to your mailing list please!
Next time I will make sure no one calls me so I can “Listen”.
I’ll ask the universe to be just kind enough to clear it up and make the sun shine bright!
I went to the pocketology in the park last week. It was fun, very cool idea. Looking forward to seeing it evolve.
Mark
